What would you do if a 200-pound bear came knocking at your door? Just after midnight on Thursday, a woman from Helena, Montana found herself face-to-face with a large bear trying to make its way into her home. Her weapon of choice - a large piece of zucchini.
The Montana woman was the owner of three dogs, two of which barked but were scared away by the bear. The third, an older and unhealthy dog, stayed by the woman as she encountered the animal. Before she even knew what was happening, the bear was attacking her dog and she found herself kicking the bear as hard as she could, only to have her pants torn by one swipe of the animals over-sized paw. When she ran to the house, the bear turned full attention to her and was pinned in the front door. The woman grabbed a zucchini she had earlier picked from her garden and pelted it at the bears head. Somehow, the bear was startled and fled.
With only minor scratches on her leg and a precautionary tetanus shot, the woman was lucky to have survived. Her dog was lucky, as well, and escaped practically unharmed. As for property damage, only the apple tree that attracted the wild animal was slightly harmed.
So, we can conclude that the moral of the story is; when approached by a bear, if attacked, pelt the largest object in reach and the bear might go away...
